~ Taken too soon from her child, husband and family

BIRTH

April 1870
Annie Bledsoe was born to Isaac Allen & Mary Bledsoe in Farmersville, Tulare County, California.

CHILDHOOD

In the 1870's there was a large inland waterway, the largest West of the Mississippi, that flowed from the Stockton area in the North to the Tulare County area in the South. There was much public & private transit and commercial trade occurring daily on this waterway.

There was a small island in Tulare County, Alpaugh, which is the site of Alpaugh Cemetery.

SIBLINGS

Annie was the youngest of her siblings that she grew up with on their large family farm in Tulare County, California:

Brother, Drury Bledsoe (1863–1944)
Sister, Susan C. Bledsoe Tapia (1865 – unknown)
Brother, Willis Russell Bledsoe (1868–1907)

Annie's brother's gravesites and their family's gravesites are in San Louis Obispo, California. Her sister, Susan's and Susan's son's gravesites have not been located.

ORPHAN

Many in Tulare County were wiped out by an epidemics, such as the Diptheria outbreak, in the late 1860's/ early 1870's.

Tragically it is believed that Annie and her 3 siblings were orphaned by their parents succumbing to one is these outbreaks.

DEATH

May 27th, 1914
Great Grannie Annie sadly passed away too young, at age 44, probably during or shortly after a miscarriage.

BURIAL
******* PLEASE NOTE - If you have a suggestion or thought as to where the remains of Great Grandma Annie may have been moved to, please do not hesitate to send a message to:
Kathryn Moore [email protected] ********

May 1914
Great Grannie Annie was originally buried at Alpaugh Cemetery, now defunct.

Alpaugh Cemetery was on an island that existed at that time, as the immense waterway that existed in the 1800's went from Stockton, California (and that area to the south of Stockton) all the way to Tulare, California (and that area around Tulare). Looking into the historical documents, one finds that daily boat travel and commerce was common along this waterway.

1941
Alpaugh Cemetery records that all gravesites were removed and transferred primarily to Tulare Cemetery. What other cemeteries received burial remains from Alpaugh Cemetery are unknown at this time. Additionally, the waterway around the island no longer existed, so as Alpaugh Cemetery land was wanted for other purposes.

2017
It is said by members of the local Historical Society that all remains of burials at Alpaugh Cemetery were removed and transferred to ??? Cemetery, in 1941.

2017
Tulare Cemetery employees reported that indeed Alpaugh Cemetery graves were reinterred at Tulare Cemetery. However, they show no record for our Sweet Annie Bledsoe Hamilton.
