He was a veteran of World War I, a member of the Bridgeport American Legion Post 62, and the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was a retired construction worker.
In addition to his wife, he was survived by a sister, Mae Scherer, and a brother, John Hanley.
The funeral mass for William P. Hanley was held on October 23, 1972 in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Donald Eichenseer in charge followed by interment in the Bridgeport City Cemetery.
