Joseph Hansman, 78, died Thursday, May 2, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, May 6, at the Basilica of St. John with burial to follow at Glendale Cemetery.

Joe was born in Des Moines to Michael and May (Sweeney) Hansman. He attended Holy Trinity Grade School and graduated from Dowling High School in 1953. Joe married Lucille Farao in 1955 at St. John's Catholic Church in Des Moines. Together they had three sons, Micheal, Joseph, Jr. and Frank. He retired from Roberts Dairy where he was a milk man for 34 years. Joe could be counted on for anything needed.

Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille, sons, Michael and Joseph, Jr. and his siblings, Mary Benshoof and James E. Hansman. He is survived by his son Frank (Melanie) Hansman, his grandchildren, Frank, Michael and Jacob Hansman, Hillary (fiance, Jason Hacker) Hansman and Matthew Hansman; his sister Kathleen E. Callahan and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 3 – 5 p.m. Sunday at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel where a vigil service will be held at 5 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Basilica of St. John. Online condolences will be welcomed at IlesCares.com.
