Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2014, at St. Mathias Church. The Reverend Troy Richmond will officiate. Burial will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 3 until 7 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2014, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home with a Rosary Prayer Service to be held at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice of charity.
Janet was born on August 30, 1936, in Conesville, the daughter of Ferral Elmo and Margie Mulligan Hardman. She married David E. Ales on January 28, 1955, at the St. Mathias Church in Muscatine.
She owned and operated West Side Market, was a supervisor at Von Maur, worked as an assistant manager at McKee Fashion and was the corporate vice-president for Flowers On The Avenue.
She loved to spend time with her family especially with her grandkids and great-grandkids. She was very artistic and loved to cook and travel.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, David of Muscatine; her children, Diane Sprague and husband, Lee, of Augusta, Georgia, Karen Garrett and husband, Dan, of Muscatine, Teresa Einfeldt and husband, David, of Lakewood, Colorado, Linda Crews and husband, Phil, of Muscatine, Stephen Ales and wife, Mary, of Madison, Wisconsin, Angela Woodhouse and husband, Dr. Joe, of Muscatine, and Julia Schildt and husband, Jim, of Muscatine; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Jack Hardman and wife, Jane, of Muscatine.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
