Eddie Ray Hare “8 Ball”, 68, passed away at home on May 24, 2016. He was born in Benson, North Carolina to the late Alda and Herman Hare. Eddie is also preceded in death by his sisters, Rosa and Alda, and brother, Tommy. Eddie loved watching Nascar races on television and a few times in person. Eddie retired as a truck driver after 40 years.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 28 years, Sandra Hare; step-son, James Flowers (Mindi); daughter, Suzanne Compitello (Anthony); brothers, Charles Hare (Carol), William Hare (Judy), and Dennis Hare (Becky); six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and his beloved companion, his dog, Savannah. Eddie’s sense of humor will fondly be remembered by those who knew him.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 10-11AM at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Rd., Virginia Beach with a funeral service to follow at 11AM. A burial will take place in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 6309 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
