Barbara J. Hare passed away after a long illness on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000.
She was born on Oct. 2, 1939. Mrs. Hare had been a Norfolk resident for over 23 years and worked as an insurance sales associate and office manager for The Carlson Agency.
She was predeceased by her parents, William and Hannah Grice; brothers, William Jr., Ronnie and Jerry; her sister, Joanne; and brothers-in-law, Harold and Howard Schmidt, all from upstate New York, her birthplace.
She is survived by her children: son, Phillip and his wife, Dawn, from Lynchburg; son, Mark; and daughter, Trudy and her husband, Steven; and her much loved grandchildren, Tara Wuttke and Tyler Howe, all from Norfolk. She is also survived by her sisters, Catherine and Dolores Schmidt, and Ann Wilson; sister-in-law, May Grice; and many nieces, nephews and cousins from New York.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
