DALE CHARLES HARRIS, age 84, of Eaton, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2001 at Reid Memorial Hospital in Richmond, IN. Born on February 22, 1917 in Eaton, OH he was the son of the late Ralph & Mildred (Huffman) Harris. He was a 1936 graduate of Preble Monroe High School. Dale played high school basketball for three years and in his senior year, Monroe won the Preble County Basketball Championship. Dale was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII where he served under General George Patton, joining the Cavalry Reconnaissance Troop of the 87th Headquarters Division as a Radio Operator. They fought in France and Germany including the Battle of the Bulge. Dale and his father Ralph started an automobile agency in 1939. His career in the automobile business spanned over 50 years and he retired in 1994. He was a lifetime member of the Preble County Automobile Association. Dale loved golf and belonged to the Eaton Country Club for over 50 years, was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Eaton, OH, and an active member of the Eaton Rotary Club. A special thanks to all the caregivers at both the Greenbrier Nursing Home for the week he was there and also the staff at Reid Memorial Hospital.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years: Mary Lou (Haacke) Harris; Son & Daughter-in-law: Thomas & Jane Harris of Eaton, OH and Daughter & Son-in-law: Nancy & William Henry of Dayton, OH.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 16, 2001 - 2:00 P.M. at the Barnes Funeral Home - 220 East Main St. - Eaton, Ohio with Rev. Thomas H. Maxedon, Jr. officiating. Interment will be held in Mound Hill Union Cemetery in Eaton.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the St. Paul Methodist Church, Garden Memorial Fund, 120 North Maple Street, Eaton, OH 45320 or to the Eaton Emergency Squad, 324 North Maple Street, Eaton, OH 45320.
