Asimo Nianiari was born in Akrata, Greece and arrived via Ellis Island 1/10/1921 at age 26 on the ship Pannonia via Patras Greece, to marry Tom. Her name has been spelled variously as Asimo, Assimo, Nianiari, Nianiary, etc. Her petition for naturalization shows birth date Oct 20, 1890 although family knew her birth as Oct 26 and her tombstone shows 1891

She married Athanasios Georgios Maheras born in Soudina, Greece on Valentine's Day, 1921. Athanasios changed his name to Tom Harris and the family retained Harris with the exception of Alex who reverted to Maheras.

Tom worked as a grocer and Asimo stayed home, they raised their children all born in Los Angeles; George Thomas 1922-1979 unmarried, Ruby Anne 1924-2002 married George Contopulos, Alexandros A 1925-1925, Nicholaus James 1925-2007 married first Myrna "June" Donoho and 2nd Klio Kontakiotis, Mary Eileen 1927-2007 unmarried, Alexander Bill "Alec" 1928-2003 married Edith Paletz.Their children were: George, Nicolas, Ruby Anne, Mary, and Alex.

They lived in a Greek neighborhood and she shopped at a local Greek market. A sweet woman who spoke Greek and very little English. She moved from Los Angeles and lived with her daughter Mary in Arcadia/Temple City until her death.
