ROCHESTER; Ruth Rebecca Avery, 83, died Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at the Frisbie Memorial Hospital.

Born Feb. 16, 1926, in West Epping, she was the daughter of the late Rufus and Zela (Clemons) Hartford.

Ruth was a member of the Emmanuel Advent Christian Church in Rochester. She enjoyed spending time with her family, going for rides, and playing board games.

Members of her family include her son, James Avery and wife, Terry, of Rochester; her brother, Rufus Hartford and wife, Shirley, of Gonic; her sister, Mabel Robichaud and husband, Ronald, of Rochester; her grandchildren, Alexandra, Erica, Miranda, and Kristina, several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Nelson Avery; her sisters, Pearl Hartford, Irma Moulton, and Dorothy Whitehouse.

Friends and family may visit from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, May 9, at the R. M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 S. Main Street, Rochester. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home.

Burial will be Monday, May 11, at 11 a.m. in the Riverview Cemetery, Barnstead, NH.
