Edith M. Brodie, 97 of Monroe died at 8:36 a.m. Monday at Medilodge of Monroe. She had been in poor health for one month.
Friend may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Rupp Funeral Home where services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday. Rev. John Martin of the Carleton Community Baptist Church will officiate and burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
Born April 4, 1913 in Chicago, Illinois she was the daughter of Albert and Gertrude (Hubbard) Hartford. She married Roy H. Brodie on June 26, 1938 in Toledo he preceded her in death on October 9, 1990.
Edith was employed as a sales clerk by the LaSalle-Cook Department Store, Toledo, Woolworths, Langes and Crons Florists in Monroe.
She was a member of the Christian Scientist in Monroe, and was active at the reading room. She was a member of the Monroe Historical Society and the Monroe and Frenchtown Senior Citizens. She graduated from Woodward High School, Toledo and enjoyed art, painting and swimming.
Surviving are her children Roy W. (Charlotte) Brodie of Mission Hills, California and David J. Brodie of Monroe; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Roy and sister, Gertrude Sutton.
