Emily Jane Embury (nee Hartnell), age 90 years, passed away February 18, 2010 at Rainy River Health Centre Long Term Care, where she had been a resident for five years to the day.

She was born August 14, 1919 in Blue Township to Walter & Mary Hartnell (nee Martin). Emily was married to William Martin Embury February 25, 1936 in Rainy River, Ontario. They farmed in Blue Township until 1972 and then moved to Rainy River.

Emily started cooking at tourist camps on Lake of the Woods in 1952 while Dad stayed home looking after the younger children and the farm. She worked at Calverts Camp and Obabikon Bay Camp. She also worked at Black Bear Camp and Gills Snack House in Sioux Narrows, cooking for the tourists.

She was predeceased by her husband William May 8 1976, her parents Walter & Mary Hartnell, two daughters Edith Fraser October 3, 2002, Evelyn Godin February 17, 2009 and son-in-law Charlie Johnson November 24, 2009, one brother Walter Hartnell Jr., one sister Doris (Leslie) Tausendfrende, and brothers-in-law Henry Peters and Vernon Wrolstad.

She is survived by two sons Harold (Janet) Embury and Cliff (Ruth) Embury, two daughters Ilene Johnson and Mim(Dan) Johnson, sons-in-law Don Fraser and Almer Godin, 16 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Fred Hartnell, sister Lorna Peters Wrolstad and sisters-in-law Vivian Hartnell and Jeanne Hartnell, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mom liked nothing better than going for rides in the country to visit her daughters, going fishing with her son-in-law Almer, and visiting her sons in Huntsville, On. and Saskatoon, Sk. She also enjoyed going to church on Sundays when she was able and going to the Seniors Drop In Centre.

Cremation has taken place. At Moms request there will be no funeral. Interment will take place at a later date in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Rainy River, Ontario.
