Mrs. Martha M. Halpin, widow of Edward Halpin, Chicago and North Western railroad engineer, died at 8 a. m. Wednesday in the home of her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dixon, 170 S. Academy street, where she had resided for the past three years. A former Chicago resident, Mrs. Halpin came to Janesville when her health failed and was critically ill for the past six months.

The former Martha M. Hartnett was born in Watertown and before her marriage lived in Janesville and Chicago. She was married to Edward Halpin in St. Mel's Catholic church, Chicago. Mr. Halpin died in 1936.

Surviving are a brother, Joseph Hartnett, Omaha; a sister, Mrs. Dixon; several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at 7:30 a. m. Friday in Kimball-Nelson funeral home and at 8 o'clock in St. Patrick's church. The rosary will be recited at the funeral home Thursday night where friends may call Wednesday night and Thursday. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery, West Chicago.
