Frances Haught Beatty went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005.

She was born on June 8, 1923, in Clarksburg, W.Va. She married Richard Beatty in 1950, and together they settled in Greenville in 1956. She worked for many years as a training manager for Iveys Department Store. She also was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church, where she volunteered in many leadership capacities. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution for over 50 years. She volunteered for the American Red Cross during World War II, and also continued the service for children through the Greenville Memorial Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Beatty, and her brother, Dr. John S. Haught.

She is survived by her two sons, Bruce Beatty of Greenville and Brent Beatty of Birmingham, Ala.; a daughter-in-law, Donna Beatty; grandchildren, Claire Beatty of Greenville and Sarah Beatty, Jacob Beatty, and Rachel Beatty of Birmingham, Ala.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was loved by many and will be sorely missed by all.

Services will be held Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be today, Sept. 16, 2005, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Presbyterian Home of SC.
