She came with her family to DuQuoin, Illinois, where she became a charter member of the First Baptist Church.
She married 1st on November 20, 1862, DuQuoin, Illinois, to Joseph Bell Yearian. About 6 years later they went into Montana Territory where Joseph and brothers George and Jacob did placer mining on Jeff Davis Creek on Horse Prairie south of Bannack. When the gold ran out, they moved to the now disappeared town of Junction, Idaho. Joseph died there in 1876.
She married 2nd in 1878, Bannack, Montana, to Edwin Robert Hawley. They developed a large horse ranching operation at Clyde, Idaho. After Edwin died in 1914, Christena lived out her life in southern California, first in Long Beach, then in Glendale. Edwin and Christena had one daughter, Edith.
