Fruitland Park - Beulah Ayris, a former Lake County teacher of the year who specialized with learning disabilities, died Wednesday of congestive heart failure. She was 68.
Ayris, affectionately known as "Boots" worked at Skeen Elementary School in Leesburg when she received the award in 1988.
