James R. Haynie, 56, of East Moline, died Sept. 20, 2007, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Ave., Moline. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation.

James was born Aug. 24, 1951, in Moline to James and Betty Doxey Haynie. He married Cynthia Boone July 20, 1974.

James worked for 31 years at John Deere, retiring as an engineering analyst. He also worked in the delivery department for Car Quest.

James enjoyed golfing, playing billiards and riding his Harley. He loved spending time with his grandson, Austin, who lovingly called him "Papas."

Survivors (and spouses) include his wife, Cynthia; sons, Jeff (Sochie) Schmitz, California; James (Marina) Schmitz, California, Adam Haynie (fiancee Erin Sandoval), Davenport; grandkids, Josh and Jenna Schmitz, Sarah Schmitz and Austin Haynie; sister, Cindy DeVos, Wyoming; stepfather, Marlin (Florence) Beckey, Florida; stepmother, Mildred "Millie" Haynie, Wyoming; and several very special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John Haynie.
