Tolkas, were his godparents and frequently baby-sat him. Hemingway recalled his relationship with his father in his 1986 memoir "The Misadventures of a Fly Fisherman: My Life With and Without Papa." He also wrote at least three other books on fishing. He was a decorated World War II veteran who spent six months in a German prisoner of war camp. In November 1944 he was shot in the arm and shoulder.
