Janet Lillian Henderson Cockefair passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2012 in Morris View Nursing Home, Morris Township. She was 97.
Born in Bloomfield, Janet grew up in Montclair and has lived in Morris Township for the past 7 years. Daughter of the late William Arthur and Eva Claire Smith Henderson, Janet is also pre-deceased by her husband Elwood Cockefair. Mrs. Cockefair is survived by 8 nieces and nephews.
Janet worked as a Secretary for many years for Worthington Company, Newark, NJ
She was a Lifetime member of Montclair Operetta Club, appeared in the chorus of many Operetta Club productions, a member of the Oratorio Society in Montclair, a member of First United Methodist Church, Montclair, NJ and Soloist for East Orange Methodist Church in East Orange for 25 years.
A funeral service was held in Van Tassel Chickene – Arthur K. Brown Funeral Home, 337 Belleville Avenue, Bloomfield on Wednesday, May 23rd. Burial followed in Bloomfield Cemetery.
Janet loved children and animals.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the The Shriners Hospitals for Children or the John A. Bukowski Shelter for Animals, Bloomfield, NJ.
