Pearl H. Elmore died Sunday, March 5, 2011 at Christiana Hospital, Christiana, DE where she had been a patient for the past week.
Born in Lower Penns Neck, she lived all her life in Carneys Point, a daughter of Lois Justice Henderson and Frank Henderson, Sr. Mrs. Elmore was a 1952 graduate of Penns Grove High School and a graduate of Salem Community College. She also attended Glassboro State College.
She was a longtime member of Union Presbyterian Church of Carneys Point, served as the church financial secretary, a member of the Board of Deacons and an Elder. She had been a member of the Girl Scouts of America for over 30 years.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Elmore was predeceased by her husband, Douglas on February 26, 2011. They were reunited with her passing, continuing a marriage of 57 years. She was also predeceased by a brother, Frank and a sister, Emma.
Surviving are her daughter, Lois Purcell and husband Michael, granddaughters, Samantha and Erin Purcell, all of Lewisburg, PA, a brother, Sam Henderson and wife Priscilla of Winston-Salem, NC, sister-in-laws, Louise Jones of Las Vegas, NV and Marie Hooks of Salem, NJ, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, March 9th from 7 to 8:30 PM in the ASHCRAFT FUNERAL HOME, 47 State St., Penns Grove.
Funeral services will be 11 Am Thursday in Union Presbyterian Church, 254 Shell Rd., Carneys Point.
Interment will follow in Lawnside Cemetery, Pilesgrove.
