She was born Oct. 24, 1942 to James and Nora Hendrix (Melton) in Melbourne, AR where she spent the first 12 years of her life. In May of 1954, Lorita and her family moved to Chelan where she completed her education. She was a member of the 1960 graduating class at Chelan High School.
On July 1, 1960, she married John Beeson at Coeur d'Alene, ID and they made their home in Chelan until the spring of 2000. In the spring of 2000, she and her husband moved to Pateros where she resided until the time of her death. She worked packing apples in Chelan until 1974 and then was hired by the Lake Chelan School District where she was employed as a secretary at Chelan High School until her death.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, John, at the home; son Ed and wife Jody Beeson of Ellensburg; son Jim and wife Jill Beeson of Kenai, AK; daughter Rainy Beeson of Brewster; two sisters, Bonnie Gay Kester of Eagle Rock, Virginia and Anita Williams of Pigeon Forge, TN; two brothers, Eudell Hendrix of Chelan and Jerry Hendrix of Airway Heights; grandchildren Kim, Krystal, Zachary, Alexi, Bailey, and Nicholas Beeson; and 10 nieces and nephews.
Lorita was preceded in death by her parents, James and Nora Hendrix and her nephew, Raymond Williams.
She was a member of the Lake Chelan Baptist Church and the Eagles Auxiliary in Chelan. Some of her hobbies over the years included: softball, bowling, hiking, embroidery, camping up the Twisp River and spending time with her grandchildren.
Lorita was known as a very diligent, hard worker who contributed a great deal to her immediate family as well as her extended family of friends and students and staff at Chelan High School. She loved to cook and prepare large meals for family gatherings and was especially known for her fried chicken and potato salad. Lorita has left a lasting impression to all who knew her and loved her and will be greatly missed.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Chelan High School Athletics.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 22, 2002 at 7 pm at Chelan High School in the Performing Arts Center. There will be no visitation.
Services are under the direction of Precht Rose Chapel, Chelan.
