Charles Henschel of Del Mar, Calif., formerly of Princeton, died Aug 10 at the age of 71. He was born in Princeton, the son of Edward and Elizabeth Henschel.

He studied architecture at Dunwoody Institute, Minneapolis. He settled in the San Diego area after serving in the Pacific war zone from 1942 to 1945. He married Philipa Pena of Davis, Calif., in 1946. He served later with a US Army unit in Korea. He was a residential and commercial builder and had retired.

He is survived by wife Philipa, Del Mar; daughter Mary, Reston, Va; brothers Reed of Faith, SD and David of Minneapolis and Jack of White Bear Lake and two greadchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Raleigh and an infant sister.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at Kaun Funeral Home, Princeton, beginning at 2 pm with Rev. Alfred Oelschlager officiating. Military honors will be provided by Princeton VFW Post No 6843.

Burial will be in the cemetery of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Princeton.
