Lucy Imogene “Jean” Hale of Drytown, CA, passed away on December 23, 2014 due to bleeding in the brain. She was 85 years old. Born in Lawrenceburg, TN, on July 26, 1929, to the late Cora Minniebell (Nunley) and Henry Riley Hickman; she moved as a young girl to Sulphur, OK, before coming to California at the age of seventeen. Jean married fellow Oklahoman Johnie Hale in Reno, NV on June 5, 1948.
She is survived by husband Johnie, two daughters; Sharlet Brown (Rick Marvin) of Yreka, CA, and Sharon Hale (Pete Scott) of Sacramento, CA, brother; Carl (Colleen) Hickman of Washington, OK, sister-in-law; Genevieve Hickman of Lawton, OK, grandchild; Deanna (Carl) Erhardt, and great grandchild; Lillia. Predeceased by her parents, brothers; Robert Earl Hickman and Harold Hickman, and in-laws; Mitt and Thelma Hale.
She was a resident of Sloughhouse, CA for many years before moving to Drytown in 1973. She enjoyed working at the Drytown Post Office, serving on the Election Board and helping with the Drytown Community Club where she served as Secretary. She was a good person who will truly be missed by friends and family.
A private interment will be held at Sunset View Cemetery in Jackson, CA. No services will be held at this time. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Amador and Calaveras Counties, P.O. Box 595 Jackson, CA 95642.
