Carol E. Badgerow, 80, of Harrison, Arkansas, and formerly of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away Friday, January 7, 2011, at Hospice House in Harrison. A graveside service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 13, 2011, at the Kingsley Cemetery in Kingsley, Iowa. A time of lunch and fellowship will follow at the Kingsley Community Center. The Johnson-Earnest Funeral Home of Kingsley is assisting Carol's family with arrangements.
Carol E. Badgerow, the daughter of Art and Thelma (Weaver) Higginbotham, was born Dec. 23, 1930 at Kingsley. She married Robert G. Badgerow on May 9, 1946. Carol was a member of Eastern Star, a 4H Leader for many years, and a cook at Union School. In 1973 she and Robert moved to Harrison, where she worked for Emerson Electric until retiring.
Carol is survived by her son Bruce of Moville, IA; her daughters, Judy (Roger) Muecke of Sioux City, IA, Debra (Robert) Reeg of Bergman, Arkansas, and Bonnie (Mike) Evans of Harrison, Arkansas; a sister, Dorothy Nitzschke of Le Mars; a brother, Arthur Higginbotham of Arizona; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; 2 sons, John and infant son Larry; a grandson Mike Evans; one brother, Robert Higginbotham; 3 sisters, Nellie Mae Fletcher, Kathleen Wenzel, and Mary Etta Peterson; and sister- and brother-in-law, Thelma and Shirley Arnold.
