Margaret V. Arner, 87, formerly of Adamstown and East Weissport, entered into rest on Monday, November 6, 2006 at Garden Spot Village, New Holland.
Born in Lehighton, she was a daughter of the late Robert H. and Mabel I. (Reed) Hill. Her husband of 43 years, Ernest Stanford Arner, entered into rest on March 9, 1986. Margaret is survived by three children, Phyllis R., wife of Ralph L. Vedder, Adamstown, Stanford L., husband of Elizabeth (Dietz) Arner, Shillington, and Edward R., husband of Kathy (Sebring) Arner, East Stroudsburg; eight grandchildren, Shawn B. and Tara E. Arner, Laura R. (Vedder) Garrison, Brian L. and Steven R. Vedder, Katharine F., Joseph N. and Edward J. Arner; and five great grandchildren.
She attended Saint Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Adamstown, and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lehighton. A graduate of Lehighton High School, 1936, she earned her Registered Nurse Degree from Metropolitan Hospital, Welfare Island, New York. She worked as a Registered Nurse in Allentown and Lehighton Hospitals for many years. Margaret enjoyed refinishing and caning furniture, camping and the outdoors, reading and playing the piano. A devoted grandmother, she loved the time she could spend with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The Funeral Service will be on Friday, November 10 at 1:00 PM with a Viewing from 12-1 PM in Saint Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 80 East Main Street, Adamstown, with Reverend Sandra L. Gideon officiating. Interment will be on Saturday at 11:00 AM in Union Hill Cemetery, East Weissport.
