Charlie F. Hill Troop Allen, 84, 636 E. 19th St., passed away Friday, January 16, 2009, at St. Vincent Health Center.

She was born February 8, 1924, in Van Vleet, Miss, daughter of the late Joe Cyrus Hill and Nora Gregory Hill.

She was a resident of Erie for 56 years. She had been employed at St. Martin's Center in the housekeeping dept. and at the former Town & Country Restaurant. She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers, fishing and family activities. Charlie was a devoted homemaker who loved her children and grandchildren and was known for the magic tricks she performed for them.

She was a "neighborhood mom" and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James Otis Troop; her second husband, Claude W. Allen, Sr.; a daughter, Robin Troop Hollingsworth; four brothers, James, Joe Ben, Wallace and Jodie Hill; seven sisters, Climmie Jones, Clara May Tucker, Leara Louise Hill, Evie Hill, Edith Catledge, Girtlean Thomas and Myrtle Smith; and a granddaughter, Rosalind Troop.

She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, James E. Troop, Sr. and Larry Troop, Erie; a daughter, Kathie Troop, Erie; a brother, S. G. "Brother" Hill, Chicago, Ill; a sister, Rebecca Hill, Chicago; 13 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren including Anthony "NuNu" Clark who she raised; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Friends may visit with the family Friday, 4 to 8 p.m., at Law Funeral Home, 2926 Pine Ave., and may attend a funeral service on Saturday, l p.m., at Word of Life Christian Center, 660 Hess Ave., with Bishop Dwane Brock of Victory Christian Center officiating.

Interment in Erie Cemetery.
