Obituary from Kittanning Leader Times March 21, 1983.

Mabel L. Bable, 90, of the Armstrong County Health Center, Kittanning, formerly of Garden Towers, Kittanning, died Sunday, March 20, 1983, at 6:40 a.m. in the health center.

She was born June 2, 1892, in Valley Township, the daughter of William and Martha Jane (McElwain) Hill.

A homemaker, she was a member of United Church of Christ in Kittanning and the Ladies Guild and Ladies Circle of the church.

She was married to John M. Bable, who died June 6, 1964.

Surviving her are two sons, John Wendell Bable of Butler RD6 and Lee Otis Bable of 731 Center Ave.l, Butler; two daughters, Mrs. Floyd (Marcella) Stokes of 104 Boyd Rd., Freeport and Mrs. Roy (Rowena) Smathers of Kittanning RD7; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Wesley Bable; a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Shernock, and an infant son.

BABLE--Friends of Mabel L. Bable, 90, of the Armstrong County Health Center, Kittanning, formerly of Garden Tower, Kittanning, who died Sunday, March 20, 1983, will be received at the Wendell A. Welch Funeral Home in Ford City from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, and from 12 to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Salem United Church of Christ. Funeral services will be held at the Salem United Church of Christ Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Elwood Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Salem (Hill) Church Cemetery. Arrangements by Welch.
