A terrific head-on crash on U. S, Highway 66 near the summit of Cajon pass Feb. 14, yesterday claimed its fifth victim when Mrs. Ola Mae Boone, 35 years old, died at the county hospital, according to Coroner R. E, Williams. Three persons were instantly killed in the accident and another died enroute to a hospital. Another of the injured passengers is in a critical condition. Edwin O. Boone, 35, of San Gabriel, was the driver of a southbound car which collided with a north bound auto driven by William E. Rouse of Argus. Both drivers were killed. Mrs. Hazel Loraine Boone, 30, wife of Edwin Boone, also died in the crash. Four soldiers were riding in the car driven by Mr. Rouse and one of the four, Staff Sgt. Richard G. Wills, 25, died en route to the Vlctorville air base hospital. Other soldiers injured were Claude T. Buell, William Parrish and Lyle Meyer. Mr. Boone, accompanied by hia two brothers and their wives, were returning to San Gabriel from Big Bear Valley when the accident occured on a curve. Charles Boone, husband of Ola Mae Boone, is still in a critical condition, while Wylie Boone, and his wife, Margie, were seriously injured but will recover. Coroner Williams ordered an autopsy to determine the cause of death of Mrs. Olamae Boone. Her body was removed to Stephen & Bobbitt mortuary.
