She was born Helen Jennie Hindemith to Jennie (Jacobson) and Paul Hindemith in Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii. She graduated from the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing, an affiliate of the Pediatrics and T.B. Nursing at St. Louis University.
On June 15, 1941 she married Benjamin (Frank) Lambert. They spent the entire WWII years in Hawaii, where Frank was stationed with the U.S. Army. Helen volunteered for the Red Cross while they were stationed in Japan and worked as a nurse in Texas and California. Helen is a Past Matron and Life Member of Harmony Chapter of Eastern Star in Honolulu, Chico Nile Club and life member of the TROA auxiliary of the Trinity Methodist Church. Helen passed away February 12, 2012 at a local hospital.
She is survived by two sons, Franklin (Judy) of AZ and Alan (Ginny) of WA; grandchildren, Scott and Chris Lambert and Sharon and Michael Dickinson; great-grandchildren, Sarah, Ryan, Zachary and Elaina.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 20, 2012 at Newton-Bracewell Funeral Home. Burial beside her husband at the Masonic Cemetery in Orland will be private.
