Nela was a daughter of Azro P. Hoag & Mary Adelle ( ) Hoag, born 1887-1889. in Michigan. She was the sister of Hazel(Hoag)Alexander. She was a violiist,and on Memorial Day, May 30, 1907, played a violin solo, accompanied by Miss Helen Hubbard. She also played on May 30,1908.
Nela was the second wife of Robert Rinear Alexander.
She died in St Petersburg, Hillsboro Co.,Florida, Oct 15, 1949, and was buried Bedford Cemetery, Bedford, Ohio, 22 Oct 1949.

Nela was a granddaughter of President James Garfield's sister Mary.
