Margaret Conkle, 61, Chanute, Kansas, died Monday, April 19, 2004, at her home.

She was born Nov. 24, 1942, in Yates Center, Kansas, the daughter of John Leo, Sr. and Mae (Merewether) Hoag.

She grew up in Yates Center, graduating from Yates Center High School in 1960.

On Aug. 11, 1976, she married Verlin Ray Conkle in El Dorado, Kansas. He survives.

She moved to Burlington, KS, in 1963, working in various restaurants in the area. For several years, she owned the Wagon Wheel Restaurant in Burlington, later working at the Coffey County Sale Barn, Hess's Station, and Casey's.

Other survivors include two daughters, Jo Skillman, Burlington, KS, and Susie Tatman, Elmdale, KS; two sons, Verlin Conkle, Miami, OK, and Josh Inman, Burlington, KS; a brother, Don Hoag, Springdale, AR; a sister, Joyce Slater, Yates Center, KS; and seven grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, April 21, 2004, at Key West Cemetery, east of Lebo, Kansas.

Memorials to Horizon Hospice may be left with the funeral home.

Jones Funeral Home, Box 277, Burlington, KS 66839, is in charge of arrangements.
