After finding no teaching jobs available, she went to business school in Minneapolis for one year. She found a job in Spooner, WI working at the Federal Land Bank office. This was a depression era government agency. In Spooner she met Lloyd Barrickman. They were married on April 15, 1940.
They moved to Eau Claire in 1941 where Lloyd’s job at Hutchinson Industries had moved. There they raised their family of eight children. Kay, Sandy, Lloyd (Buzz) , Donna, Dick, Mary, Chris and David. They were at home on Wedgewood Avenue for 60 years. Their family was a source of great pride for Frances and Lloyd. After the children were grown Frances worked in the office of the Eau Claire Builders Exchange.
