Mrs. Ella Beck, 75, Dies

GREENWOOD — Mrs. Ella B. Beck, 75, a native of Petersville, died Sunday at the Johnson county Memorial hospital after a 2-week illness. She lived at 201 West Pearl street in Greenwood.

A niece, Mrs. Harrell Hern, lives at 3301 McCullough lane.

Mrs. Beck was born April 5, 1889, to Elihu and Harriett Curry Holeman and was married to D. C. Beck Nov. 27, 1907. They moved to Greenwood in 1916. Her husband died in 1962.

They operated a restaurant and a Greyhound and suburban bus lines depot there for over 25 years. She belonged to the Greenwood Christian church, Order of Eastern Star, Past Matrons and Past Patrons organization, White Shrine of Jerusalem of Indianapolis and the Greenwood Rebekah lodge.

Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Grace Beck, with whom she lived. A son, Karl Beck, died in 1939.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Burkhart funeral home in Greenwood with burial at Greenwood cemetery. The Rev. Richard Burton, minister of the Greenwood Christian church, will read the rites.
