Obituary
Beloved mother, grandmother, and friend met Jesus face to face the morning of Saturday, April 26, 2008. Jeri Calhoun, 74, was born in Mechanicsburg, MS on January 16, 1934. Visitation will be held today, April 28, 2008 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Forest. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am at Forest Baptist Church on Tuesday, April 29, 2008. Graveside service will follow at the Eastern Cemetery in Forest. Dr. Gordon Sansing will conduct the service with songs provided by the Good News Singers.Mrs. Calhoun was an active member of the Forest Baptist Church, Joyce Lasseter Sunday School Class, Gloria Glaze WMU and Good News Singers.
Jeri was a member of the City of Forest Housing Authority Board and was very active in community affairs. She most especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren participate in sporting events.
Mrs. Calhoun was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Calhoun; mother, Zelda Stallings; aunt, Chesley Pigg; and great-grandson, Jackson Lee Calhoun.
Survivors include two sons, John David Calhoun (Tena) of Clinton and Jackie Calhoun (Gail) of Forest; two daughters, Wanda "Tutti" Carter (John) of Delray Beach, FL and Laurie McLaughlin of Gainesville, FL; grandchildren, Dr. Shea Moses (Matthew), Kris Honey (Cameron), Pacey Harris (Matt), Dr. Paula Potratz (Rick), Paul Calhoun (Lee Ann), Ginny McCarty (Michael), Patrick Carter, Jerrica Carter and Cody McLaughlin; great grandchildren, Pace Moses, Mae Evelyn Moses, Camille Honey, Daphne Honey, Alex Portratz, Shannon Portratz, Jack Portratz, Luke Portratz,Abbigale Calhoun and Annslee Belle Calhoun.
Pallbearers include: Terry Smithhart, James Smithhart, Richard Smithhart, Patrick Carter, Wayne Harvey, Don Magee, Lee McClain, Cliff Currie and Paul Calhoun. Honorary pallbearers include: Cody McLaughlin, Mike Harvey, John Currie, Dwight Faulkner and Jonathan McClain Thorpe.Memorial gifts may be sent to Forest Baptist Church, P.O.
