Mrs. Carroll was born August 9, 1924 in Huntsville, Texas, the daughter of the late Sudie (Coburn) and William Shelton Holiday. She passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2014 in a Lufkin nursing facility.
Mrs. Carroll loved fishing, flowers, her pets, and visiting with family. Nothing made her happier than to cook one of her fabulous meals and share it with family and loved ones. She made it a point to spend time in the Lord's book each day and listen to good "preachin'." She worked for LISD's Food Services, serving at Trout Elementary and Slack Elementary. Mrs. Carroll was of the Baptist faith, being a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 70 years, Johnnie Lee Carroll; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Barbara Carroll; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and David Schultz; granddaughters and husbands, Kim and Steve Carter, Rhonda and Ricky Proffer, Denise and Reuben Roberts, Dede and Rodney McCarty, Katrina and Brent Barnes, Ashley Schultz, and Diana and Cliff Williams; and grandsons and wives, James Wayne and Tonya Carroll, Steve and Kim Irvin, and Richard and Kim Irvin. She has numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and one brother and sister-in-law, James Estill and Marian Holiday.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Beatrice (Peaches) and John Wirty Bartee; brothers, Author Lee Holiday, Billy Joe Holiday; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Lucille Carroll; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Anne and Cliff Cauthen, and Sue and John Kay; and grandson, Brian Irvin.
