Mrs. Mary Magdeline Holt Adkins,
age 70, of Ashland, Kentucky, formerly of Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Sunday evening, April 3, 2011, at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky.

She was born November 3, 1940, in Hayti, Missouri, a daughter of Opal L. Armer Holt of New Madrid, Missouri, and the late Granville L. Holt.

Mary attended Garvin Ridge Wesleyan Church and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and a friend to all who knew her. She retired as a senior accountant from Ashland Technical College and loved spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband of twenty-seven years, Garl Lee "Bub" Adkins; one son, Gary Adkins; and two grandsons, Travis Elkins and Joshua Taylor.

Mary is survived by six sons, Steven Taylor of Wonder Lake, Illinois, Mike Taylor of Swansea, Illinios, Daryl Adkins of Mansfield, Ohio, John Adkins of Shelby, Ohio, Glen Adkins of Sheridan, Wyoming, and Garl Adkins, Jr. of Mansfield, Ohio; five daughters, Pearl Smithmier of O'Fallon, Illinois, Opal Travis of New Madrid, Missouri, Angela Taylor of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Patricia Riley of Ashland, Kentucky, and Denise Elkins of Mansfield, Ohio; 38 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and one sister, Lydia Motes of New Madrid, Missouri. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2011, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Brother J. C. Bond officiating. Burial will follow in the Garvin Ridge Cemetery in Olive Hill, Kentucky.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2011, and until the service hour on Friday at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky.

Steven Taylor, Mike Taylor, Daryl Adkins, John Adkins, Glen Adkins, and Garl Adkins, Jr. will serve as pallbearers.
