Mrs. Cynthia Carrico Dies at Gravel Switch
Mrs. Cynthia Holt Carrico, 71, wife of James Carrico, died last Friday afternoon about 5 o'clock at her home in the Gravel Switch community following several months illness of cancer. She underwent an operation six months ago but obtained only temporary relief and since had been in a serious condition.
Mrs. Carrico, who was born in Jackson County, was wed to Mr. Carrico 52 years ago. He survives. Also surviving are three sons and three daughters, George Carrico of Danville, Bob and Levi Carrico and Mrs. Essie Martin of Louisville, and Mrs. Dora Roller and Mrs. Phoebe Orberson of Gravel Switch. Another daughter, Mrs. Edgar Berry of Gravel Switch, is deceased. Two brothers, Louis Holt of Cincinnati, Ohio and Levi Holt of Kingsport, Tenn. survive and one sister, Mrs. Jane Gadd of Los Angeles, Calif. There also are 15 surviving grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Among the grandchildren are three, Miss Cletus Berry, James Berry and Mrs. Cynthia Orberson, who Mrs. Carrico reared.
Funeral arrangements were in charge of the R.O. Harmon Funeral Home. The services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Gravel Switch Methodist Church by the pastor, Rev. Harold Brooks, assisted by the Rev. Jim Harley of the Baptist Church. Burial was in Haysville Cemetery. Six Orberson brothers - Wallace, Howard, John C., Tom, Lee and Bob Orberson - served as pallbearers.
