Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.
The Rev. Todd Schlitter, associate pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be at the Union Chapel Cemetery at Ira.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 8 a.m. Thursday. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions in her name may be left at the funeral home.
Survivors are two sons, Lester Ray and Larry Eugene, both of Newton; a daughter, Betty Galloway of Newton; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are a brother, Harold Holtz of rural Colfax and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Andrew, June 23, 1986, and her sister, Mildred Postma.
Mrs. Beard, a member of the First United Methodist Church, had taught rural schools near Reasnor.
The daughter of Albert C. and Lillie M. Baker Holtz, she was born May 1, 1901, south of Newton, was educated in Jasper County rural schools, was graduated from Baxter Community High School in 1920 and attended University of Northern Iowa at Cedar Falls.
She was married to Andrew Ray Beard June 1, 1921 at her parents' home two miles east of Ira.
Following their marriage the Beards farmed in the Mingo, Ira and Colfax communities.
