Mrs. Bertha Lucille House Burgess left this life Jan. 24, 2005, at the age of 89 to join her husband, Belton, in their heavenly home. Belton preceded his wife in 2001. Bertha was very proud of the fact she worked until she was 81 years old. She worked at Mars Hill Bible School before beginning her extensive career selling shoes for various stores. She was a member of Salem Church of Christ. She always looked forward to the dogwoods blooming each spring.Ms. Burgess is survived by her son, Earl Burgess and wife, Martha; a very special stepgranddaughter, Michelle Peters, who spent hours visiting with Bertha. They enjoyed reading together and watching movies; also surviving, granddaughters, Patti Holiday and husband, Steve, Tina Craig and husband, Brian; grandsons, Jimmy Burgess and wife, LaVonne, Mike Burgess, Tim Burgess and Phil Burgess; stepgranddaughter, Kelly Smith and husband, Danny; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and a son, Glen and wife, Lucy, and their children, Glenda, Kirk, Gina and Elaina.Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005, at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. at Greenview Memorial Chapel, with burial to follow in Mount Zion Cemetery. Officiating at the service will be Ellis Coats.Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Coalition of Alzheimer's and related disorders, P. O.
