Daughter of Brevet Major-General Albion Parris Howe of Standish, Maine and Elizabeth Law Mehaffey of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

Source for birth date and place: tombstone at Mount Auburn Cemetery.

Married, on 16 August 1893 Cambridge, Massachusetts, her cousin, Dr. Lucien Howe, son of Col. Marshall Spring Howe and his first wife, Anna Timothy Cleland; Elizabeth Mehaffey and Lucien Howe had no issue.

Note: As was the custom in the day, Lucien and Elizabeth Mehaffey Howe had a ward. In the 1910 US Census, they had a young man by the name of Ramiro De Los Santos (son of Alvaro De Los Santos) born 04 September 1895 Havana, Cuba residing with them in Buffalo, NY. He arrived in the US in October 1908. He declared his intention to become a US citizen on 02 April 1918 in Federal District Court, Boston. In 1918 Ramiro was drafted (WWI) while residing in Uxbridge, Massachusetts and working at City Hospital, Boston where he was a "hospital attendant". Ramiro returned to Cuba to visit his mother and family in 1919.
I find no further data for him but believe that he changed his name to or used the name of John Murray.
See photo of Ramiro de los Santos (in beret) to the right.
