By 1935 Dorothy Sewall was in care in Middleboro, Plymouth, Massachusetts. By 1940 Dorothy Sewall Howe had been placed in Taunton State Hospital, Taunton, Bristol, Massachusetts.
Dorothy Sewall Howe died 30 November 1965 at New Hampshire Hospital, Concord, Merrimack, New Hampshire, USA; Dorothy Howe interred, 10-24-1967, Mount Auburn Cemetery; Goldenrod Path; Lot 6547; spinster; no issue.
Note: After Dorothy Sewall's death it was discovered that she had taken out war-bonds for each of her nieces and nephews. She was a generous soul.
