OBITUARY - Mrs. Maria A. Atwood, Widow of the Late Thomas Atwood
Mrs. Atwood died at her home at 7 Oakland street last night at about midnight. She has been in feeble health for some time but was violently seized with illness on Thursday last, which resulted in her death as stated. Mrs. Atwood was seventy-three years of age, and leaves two married daughters, Mrs. William S. Brock and Mrs. William Valentine; and two married sons, one of whom, Mr. Josiah E. Johnson, lives in Newburyport, and the other in Illinois.
Mrs. Atwood was twice married, her first husband being Mr. Josiah Johnson, who has been dead many years. Mr. Atwood died four years since. Mrs. Atwood leaves besides her four children, many grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. She was a conscientious, consistent and devoted Christian, and had been a member of the Baptist church for many years. She commanded the respect and love of the many who knew her.
