Joanne C. Blaze, 77, of La Porte, Ind., died at 4:45 p.m., Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at La Porte Hospital.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at Cutler Funeral Home with Rev. Dan McDonald officiating. There will be a time of visitation with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Private interment will be in Pine Lake Cemetery with the family.
Mrs. Blaze was born February 26, 1931, in La Porte to the late Robert and Corrine (McIntrye) Huba.
On August 1, 1952, in La Porte, she married Donald E. Blaze, who survives.
Surviving are a sister-in-law, LuAn Blaze of La Porte; a niece, Marsha Blaze of La Porte; a nephew, Mike Blaze of La Porte; and close friends, Victor and Betty Hockney of La Porte and their families.
Mrs. Blaze worked at KOP while her husband served in the U.S. Navy. She graduated in 1948 from La Porte High School and served on the 60th class reunion committee. She volunteered at American Red Cross and was a blood donor for many years. She bowled in the Independent League for many years, loved flowers, gardening, made ceramics with a group of ladies at the Civic, was an avid Slicer Baseball fan, made many fishing trips to northern Minnesota, enjoyed traveling, loved her beagle hounds and loved life.
