SHINNSTON — Mary Elizabeth Bock, 96, of Shinnston died Saturday, June 29, 2013, at her residence following an extended illness.
She was born in Shinnston on October 15, 1916, the daughter of the late Parker M. Hudkins and Gertrude L. Riley Hudkins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond W. Bock; and her son-in-law, David E. Riley.
Mary was one of eight children and was the last surviving member of her family; there were four brothers, Abram, Allen, John and Walter Hudkins; and three sisters, Josephine Righter, Lena Wilson and Edith McDonald McWilliams.
Mary has always been an excellent seamstress and made most of her daughter's clothes for school. She worked for many years as a seamstress of The Hat Shoppe in Shinnston. She also worked for her nephew, Richard Metz, and for Oliver Parrott of Shinnston Appliance for several years. Mary was a long standing member of the Shinnston Woman's Club, a member of the First Baptist Church of Shinnston and served for a few years as a deaconess.
Pastor Kevin Nuzum will officiate. Interment will follow at the Shinnston Masonic Cemetery.
