Carol Lindberg Brown, 87, formerly of Liverpool , died November 26, 2005, at Loretto Skilled Nursing Facility, where she had lived since March 2005. Carol was born March 31, 1918, in Syracuse to William Burleigh Hudson and Bessie Howe Hudson. She spent her early life on the South Side of Syracuse and graduated from Central High. After graduation she applied for a summer job in Skaneateles at the Lindorf Restaurant, where she met and married her first husband, David E. Lindberg III. He died January 1973. Carol always had a love for food and food preparation, so much so that she became involved with local TV stations WSYR and WHEN and was an occasional guest on Ladies Day, hosted by Kay Russell and other local personalities, and demonstrated the latest food appliances for local TV audiences. She was a member of First Church of Christ Scientist of Boston. Later on, in the mid-fifties, Carol and her husband, Dave, moved to Trumansburg, NY, with their family, where she became involved in home decoration and food preparation. She was the proud mother of five sons, whom she always motivated and guided toward their successful sales careers. She loved and cared for her boys in the Trumansburg-Ithaca area. She was involved in their school and community activities on a full-time basis, always helping in any way possible. So much was she involved with radio and TV and how it merged with home decoration and fashion that when the family returned to the Syracuse area in the late fifties, she sold furniture at Chappell's Dept. Store, Dey Bros. and Sibley's, with a home decorator stint at Dunk & Bright Furniture. In November 1986, after 13 years of widowhood, she married Austin Brown, and they relocated in Fulton, NY. He died in 1998. The family wishes to thank all the caregivers in Westside Manor, James Square, Sedgwick and Loretto for the great care she received over the past eight years. Survivors include the Lindberg sons: David IV (Jan) and Jerome (Sharon) of the CNY area and Lynn, James (Mary) and Jon (Christy) of the Southern Virginia peninsula area; sisters- in-law: Florence Hudson, Sabra Lindberg McCreedy, Martha Lindberg Heer and Gloria Burke Lindberg; 11 grand-children; five great-grandchildren; one great-niece; and one great- nephew. Carol was predeceased by her brother, Lynn Hudson, and sister, Lucille Chappelle, in April 1995. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2005, with a service to follow at 6:30 p.m. at Maurer Funeral Home, 300 Second St., Liverpool. Burial will be in Liverpool Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to a charity of one's choice.
