Lillian Hugghins Chance, 81, of Hillister, Texas, died Friday, November 5, 1999 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Funeral services were held Monday, November 8, 1999 at 2 p.m. in the Stringer and Griffin Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Allison Cemetery near Warren, Texas. Officiating at the services was Brother Jerry Kelley, pastor of Hillister Baptist Church. Serving as pallbearers were her grandsons, Ricky Chance, Gordon Chance, Nathan Jagneaux, Lawrence Jagneaux, George Wilson, and Jason Wilson. Honorary pallbearers were Tyler Chance and Eric Chance. Visitation was held Sunday, November 7, 1999 from 5 - 8 p.m. at the funeral .
Mrs. Chance was born September 8, 1918 in Troup, Texas. She was a former resident of Port Arthur and had lived in Hillister for 21 years. She was the retired owner/operator of Frank R. Chance Printing in Port Arthur, Texas. She was a member of Port Arthur Art Club and Little Theatre and was a member of the Hillister Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall F. Chance, Sr.; son, Frank Robert III, and daughter, Arlayne Wilson. She is survived by sons, Marshall F. Chance, Jr. of Bridge City, Texas and David M. Chance of Big Springs, Texas; daughter, Cathleen Jagneaux of Sulphur, Louisiana; sister, Ruth Arnold of Port Arthur, Texas; 18 grandchildren and 14 greatgrandchildren. Services were under the direction of Stringer and Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville . Published in the Tyler County Booster.
