An amazing woman, mother and grandmother, Annell Hughes Allen, 92, of Clifton passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2016. Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Grandview. Interment: will follow at Grandview Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Clayton Kay Vaughan Funeral Home in Grandview. She was born on Oct. 11, 1923, to Joseph Daniel and Mary Elizabeth Sain Hughes. She graduated from Grandview High School and married her sweetheart, James Clay Allen, on June 7, 1941. Annell worked for Civil Service from May 3, 1953, until June 3, 1987. While working, she continued her education, receiving an associate's degree from Tarrant County College on May 18, 1977, and then continuing her studies at Texas Wesleyan College. Annell was baptized in June of 1941 and was a current member of First Baptist Church of Whitney. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Allen; parents, Joe and Mary Hughes; and brother, Dan Hughes. Survivors: Annell is survived by her daughters, Dolores Ann Crowder and Sharon Beth and husband, Ronnie Doss; son, James Clay Allen II; grandchildren, Cindy Timmons, Melanie Hauk, Shelley Ellis, Shannon Smith, Christi Keel, James Clay Allen III, Tiffany Stanley, Daniel Doss and Chad (J.C.) Allen; great-grandchildren, Greg Hauk, Mitchell Timmons, A.J. Hauk, Mitchell Ellis, Cody Crowder, Shayla Lanier, Joshua Lanier, Austin Ellis, Allison Smith, Haley Smith, Emily Stanley, Bethany Stanley, Latham Doss, Kensey Doss, Taylor Stanley, Julia Stanley, Riley Allen; and great-great grandchildren, Caleb Crowder, Mason Hauk, Blake Hauk and Christa Crowder.
