Born in Mesa, Washington in an area that is now part of the Hanford Nuclear Reserve, to itinerant workers, Maud grew up throughout Washington State. She graduated from Pennisula High School in 1960 and moved to Seattle. In July of 1963 she married John Blomberg. They had 5 children. During their married life they lived in Seattle, on Bainbridge Island, Silverdale, and Edmonds before moving to the Eatonville area in 1974. After 10 years of managing a Christian youth camp. John and Maud moved into Eatonville. Maud will always be remembered for her cooking. (Her grave marker includes an etching of cinnamon rolls.) She will also be remembered for her strong Christian witness that was walked as well as talked. A final trait that she will always be remembered for, was her frugality. She knew how to spot a bargain and could stretch a dollar farther than most people I know.
