Services for Mary Virginia Hunt Temple will be held today at 10 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Rusty Douglas, Pastor of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Greenwood, officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Meridian with Riles Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Temple, 89, of Vicksburg and formerly of Meridian, died Thursday, April 16, 2009, at the Heritage House Retirement Center. She was born September 12, 1919, in McComb to the late Willie D. Hunt and Jessie Stewart Hunt. She was a 1937 graduate of Carr Central High School and graduated from Mississippi State College for Women in 1942. A resident of Meridian for a number of years, she was a charter member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Vicksburg where she was a member of the Allein Bible Class, the Dorcus Circle of the church, and a member of the Sanctuary Choir. Survivors include her son, William Stewart Temple Sr., of Lake Washington, Wash.; three grandsons, William Stewart Temple II, of Meridian, George Andrew Temple, of Clinton, and Matthew David Temple, of Dothan, Ala.; a brother, George Beverly Hunt, of LaGrange, Ga.; four nieces, Patsy Hunt Halford, Mary Eulalia Hunt Field, Rachel Hunt Mills, and Celeste Hunt Garrett; one nephew, W.C. Hunt Jr.; and numerous great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Dewey Temple Sr.; a son, George D. Temple Jr.; and two brothers, W.C. Hunt and Ray B. Hunt. Pallbearers will be Andrew Temple, Matthew Temple, Kenneth Halford Sr., Ken Halford Jr., Mike Halford, and Billy Hunt. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Joe Ford Jacobs, Dr. Lee Giffin, and the staff of Heritage House Retirement Center. The family requests memorials be made to First Presbyterian Church, 1501 Cherry St., Vicksburg, Miss. 39180, or to Trinity Presbyterian Church, 4223 Poplar Springs Drive, Meridian, Miss. 39305. Visitation will be today in Ward Hall, one hour prior to services at the church.
