Mrs. Emma E. Armstrong, widow of Thomas J. Armstrong, for many years a prominent business man of the city, died at 9:30 o'clock last night at her home, 1420 Eighth avenue, after a brief illness.

She was born in Duncansville, April 15, 1847, a daughter of William and Elizabeth Irvine, and was the last member of a family of eleven children. She was united in marriage with T. J. Armstrong sixty-one years ago and came to Altoona with her husband in 1874.

Surviving are three daughters and one son, Mrs. Bertha L. Finney, Mrs. Mayberry Miller, Gilbert J. Armstrong and Miss Mary Armstrong, all of this city. Two grandchildren, Dean T. Finney of Holyoke, Mass., and Irvine M. Armstrong of Washington, D. C. , also survive.

Mrs. Armstrong was a member of the Second Presbyterian church for many years.

Funeral services will be held at the late home at 2.30 o'clock Monday afternoon. Interment will be made in Carson Valley Cemetery. Friends are requested to omit flowers.
