Irene Andrews

Irene Andrews, the daughter of Andy and Nora Hansen Irvine, was born on December 28, 1927 in Jackson Co., MN. She grew up near Round Lake, MN and graduated from the Round Lake High School in 1945. Irene continued her education at the University of Minnesota receiving her RN degree in 1948. Irene was united in marriage to John "Jack" Andrews on November 26, 1949 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Worthington. After their marriage they lived in Worthington until moving to Windom in 1954. They returned to rural Worthington after a year and a half. In 1965 they moved to Fulda where they operated a turkey farm. Irene worked as a nurse at the Worthington Regional Hospital for many years. They remained in Fulda after their retirement in 1986. They spent many winters in Pharr, TX. Irene remained at her home in Fulda after Jack's death in September of 2001.

Irene passed away on Monday, October 1, 2007 at the Our House Hospice Home in Slayton, MN at the age of 79. She was a member of St. Gabriel's Church in Fulda. She enjoyed quilting, spending winters in Texas, having lunch with the nurses, traveling and enjoying her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her two sons, Mike (Susan) Andrews of Freemont, CA and Tom (Judy) Andrews of Slayton, MN; two grandsons, Geoff (Kristi) Andrews of Astoria, SD and Jim Andrews of Minneapolis, MN; three great-grandchildren, Shelby, Allison and Connor Andrews all of Astoria, SD and two sisters, Sally (Bobby) Herbert of Lake Park, IA and Mary (Alan) Kamphuis of Ankeny, IA.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jack and sister, Dorothy.

Funeral Services

St. Gabriel's Catholic Church Fulda, MN at 10:30 AM on Thursday, October 4, 2007 with the Fr. Bob Horihan officiating. The organist is Mary Ann Boom. The soloist is Sheila Crowley. The pallbearers are Reann Jones, Jared Herbert, Paul Andrews, Jane Dooley, Tim Andrews and Vince Koltze. Honorary pallbearers are her nieces and nephews. Interment at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery Worthington, MN.
